Experience
1/2001 to Present – Independent Print and Web Production Artist and Typographic Proofreader.
4/99-1/2001 – Consultant 40+ hours weekly as System Administrator, CIGNA Corporate
Marketing,
Bloomfield, CT. Duties included brochure and ad production, proofreading,
troubleshooting hardware and software, backup system maintenance, archiving, upgrading
application software, and various other graphic arts support.
9/98-4/99 – Independent Macintosh production and freelance consulting with various clients, including BeneCom, CIGNA, the University of Hartford, and the Hartford Insurance Group.
1991-1998 – Studioworks in Avon, CT, a graphic design studio. Responsible for Macintosh production, troubleshooting software and hardware, and quality control. Primary customer was BeneCom, the premier producer of health care materials and SPDs for CIGNA Corporation, Bloomfield, CT.
1985-1991 – President of Matrix Typographers (formed a new company), a division of the Amscot Group, Bloomfield, CT. Purchased all equipment and trained personnel. In 1991, the company was dissolved because of the huge impact of desktop computers on the typesetting industry.
Other experience: Mono Typesetting (Plant Superintendent), ADVO Systems, and Hildreth Press (which included a 6-year apprenticeship and one year of Typographic Proofreading training).
